Running Pirated Games (Exe), Online-Fix, and Linux Native Game File Acquisition on Archlinux
Using Archlinux as an example, please adjust commands accordingly for other distributions.
0. (Optional) Install proton-ge-custom
GE-Custom has the following advantages over the official version:
- Contains more game-specific patches
- Newer WINE version
- More experimental features
- Better media codec support
- Additional game compatibility fixes
Compilation takes quite a while, so patience is required.

If you don’t need this, you can directly use Steam’s built-in proton.
1. Add Game to Steam
In the Steam menu, click Games -> Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library and complete the corresponding settings.
If you want to use a different proton version, you can specify it in Compatibility.
2. (Optional) Install Runtime Libraries
Some games require VC++ or .NET runtime libraries and cannot run directly, so you need to install the corresponding runtime libraries.
It’s recommended to use protontricks for this operation, as it’s more convenient.
yay -S protontricks
After installation, launch protontricks and select the pirated game from the game list (you need to add the game to Steam first to see it in the list). Protontricks will show multiple warning messages when starting - just ignore them.
Select Select the default Wine container and confirm.
At this point, you can choose Install Windows DLL or component for automatic installation, or select Run an arbitrary executable to specify running other exe files.
3. (Optional) Additional Steps for online-fix Multiplayer Repair
If you’re using online-fix patches and proton-ge-custom, you need additional configuration to enable multiplayer fixes.
Open Steam, select the game that needs multiplayer repair from your game library, right-click and select Properties
In Launch Options, enter WINEDLLOVERRIDES="OnlineFix64=n;SteamOverlay64=n;winmm=n,b;dnet=n;steam_api64=n;winhttp=n,b" %command%
